Youth Mental Health First Aid

Youth mental health first aid is designed for adults who interact with youth. Participants who successfully complete the training will become certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid! Participants will be required to complete a 2-hour self-paced training online BEFORE attending the in-class portion of the course. All necessary materials will be provided to you.

Valle Vista Health Systems will generously be providing lunch to attendees for the June 3rd training!

Register by May 20th at:

You will learn:

-Common signs and symptoms of a mental health concern in this age group vs. typical adolescent development.

-The unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents.

-The importance of early intervention.

-How to help a youth who is experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge.

-A 5-step action plan to assist youth in both non-crisis and crisis situations.

-Community Mental Health Resources Available


This training is being offered for free (valued at $170) for residents and employees of Johnson County courtesy of a grant awarded to Upstream from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
