Acting Class for grades 3-5
In this class, students will continue to learn how to develop and improve performing skills through a variety of theatre activities such as improv, characterization, games, monologues, and group scenes. Performers of all abilities will have fun while strengthening their creativity to get them ready for a small showcase that will be featured during the last class.
Taking the Stage: Act II will meet Thursdays from 5:30-7:30 pm, February 3 - March 24 (8 sessions total). It is for grades 3-5. No previous acting experience is required and students do not need to have taken Taking the Stage last semester to enroll. The class will be held at the Arts Council Extension Building/LTWS Rehearsal Hall at 419 N. Spruce Street. Registration is $200 for the class.
Melanie Cornelison-Jannotta will teach the class. Melanie has recently returned to NC after working for 12
years as the Artistic Director for the Paramount Arts Center in Ashland, KY.
Prior to that she was the Artistic Director for the Andy Griffith Playhouse
in Mount Airy. Melanie has directed and choreographed over 250 productions
throughout the Southeast including state, regional and national award
winning production of Cats, Cabaret, The Wizard of Oz, Rent, and others.
She teaches tap, jazz, contemporary and musical theatre dance. She is married to Joshua Jannotta, and when she is not in the theatre she enjoys
traveling the world.
