The APRI-DE Chapter will be continuing the tradition of hosting the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. prayer breakfast.
The A. Philip Randolph Institute – Delaware Chapter will be continuing the tradition of hosting the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Prayer Breakfast on January 17, 2022. The A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI) is an organization for African-American trade unionists. APRI advocates social, labor, and economic change at the state and federal levels, using legal and legislative means. APRI has 150 chapters in 36 states. We will continue the tradition of celebrating the life and works and birthday of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and also celebrate our founder A. Philip Randolph worked with Dr. King and also was the organizer of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom on August 28, 1963.
The Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. prayer breakfast will be held at The Executive Banquet and Conference Center located at 205 Executive Way Newark, Delaware, 19702. Breakfast will begin promptly at 8:00 am. Doors will open at 7:00 am.
Our theme this year will be Celebrating Life with Service. We will honor Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Sammy Congo ( Sammy and Cherie) of the Congo Funeral Home Award with the Celebrating Life with Service Award.
We will also honor The Honorable Matthew Meyer, New Castle County Executive, Dr. Velma P. Scantlebury- White, and Dr. Joan F. Coker with the President's Award.
We are proud to have The Honorable Rev. Dr. Christopher A. Bullock of Canaan Baptist Church as our keynote speaker for this year’s breakfast.
We will also have special music from Grammy-nominated Dr. Arvis Strickling-Jones.
