Come join us on a walk into Sioux Falls’ past on a lantern light tour of Woodlawn Cemetery as you have never seen it before! During your tour, you will learn about the lives of people from Sioux Falls’ history in the cemetery. This year, the tour will feature stories of people involved in early city government, a pioneer laborer, business leaders, and stories from the social scene of Sioux Falls past.
The tours will take place on October 14, 15 and 16, with starting times at 6:30, 6:50, 7:10, 7:30, and 7:50 on Thursday, and an additional 8:10 tour on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $10 and will go on sale September 4th for Siouxland Heritage Museums Alliance members and September 11th for the general public at the Old Courthouse Museum.
The tour will take place on the paved paths inside Woodlawn cemetery, last about 50-60 minutes, cover between half and three-quarters of a mile, and will not have places to sit. The tour will go forward in nearly any weather so please plan to dress appropriately for mid-October at night. Recommended for children over 12; tours are conducted after sunset with limited lantern light.
