A short course focused on colour harmony, colour theory and composition, including an introduction to alla prima painting.
Course Overview
When working from a plaster cast, figure or portrait model, good draughtsmanship is essential. However, it is also important to have an opportunity to focus on the paint quality or colours. Still life and flower painting is a wonderful opportunity to experiment with composition, colour and paint handling.
Course Structure
Monday - Wednesday, 10am-4pm.
There will be a 1-hour lunch break from 12:30 – 1:30pm.
Please arrive anytime from 9.30am for set-up. Teaching will be from 10am.

Course Content
Still life painting is a wonderful means by which to explore and develop the fundamentals of drawing and painting:
- Proportion and relative proportion
- Composition and the relationships of objects.
- Values - light and dark
- Colour - temperature and chroma
- Focus and Edges
- Art material and techniques
