Ready to Start and Grow Your Business?

Join the Florence Chamber, Small Business Administration, and FMU Kelley Center for this free workshop designed to help entrepreneurs understand how to start and grow a business and the local resources available. Additional topics will include registering your business, legal structures, marketing, and finance. This workshop is laid out in three parts:

Part One (READY): Wednesday, July 13th, 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

  • Key steps to getting your business off the ground
  • 10 Pitfalls to avoid when starting a business
  • Various financing options
  • Basic requirements for borrowing money

Part Two (SET): Tuesday, July 26th, 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

  • Five C’s of credit
  • How to become credit-ready
  • What is a credit score and why it matters
  • Understanding loan applications
  • Business funding sources

Part Three (GO): Tuesday, August 9th, 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

  • Developing a business plan
  • Finding local resources: SBDC, SCORE, WBCs, VBOCs, Microlenders

Angela Brewer is a native of Mississippi. She moved to South Carolina during her services in the US Army. After serving 23 years in the Army and Army Reserve, she retired in 2012 with a background in Human Resource Management. She later went on to obtain her Master's degree in Human Resource Management from Keller Graduate School of Management. She has been with US Small Business Administration (SBA) for almost 5 years, first as a Disabled Veteran Intern for six month and currently, a Business Opportunity Specialist.
