Description

NVA & Guests' virtual showcase video will be available here for viewing on January 2, 2022 and will feature the following works:

STAY WITH ME (75 minutes)
This is an evening-length performance in two acts combining dance, theatre, pre-recorded text, and audience participation. Featuring a cast of five dancers, the show explores the longing for each other, our past selves, and our own peaceful consciousness. Bouncing between lighter and heavier scenes, the work weaves its way between play, hope, loss, and desire.

TOMORROW (20 minutes)
Commissioned by NOoSPHERE and Create Art, TOMORROW is a 20-minute site-specific installation that took place on a rooftop surrounded by a sewage treatment plant, a landfill, the Kingsland Wildflowers, dreamy views of Manhattan, and one of the most polluted waters in the US - The Newton Creek. It can be adapted to any environment that combines elements of urbanization and nature.

LE MONT (50 minutes)

Supported by a 2023 NYSCA grant and a new residency in Montana called GLUE, Le Mont (working title) will be a new 50-minute dynamic dance theatre stage work based on the fictional novel “The Great Fear in The Mountain” by Swiss author Charles Ferdinand Ramuz. The work performed by 4 dancers will premiere at Triskelion Arts in November 2023.

ABOUT THE COMPANY
Founded in 2014, NVA & Guests exists as a platform to produce and share the artistic work of choreographer Nicole von Arx. Its mission is to cultivate a community of artists and the public through dance-based, design-forward experiences ranging from contemporary dance performances, to film, and creative workshops.Grounded in her experience dancing in both the contemporary, immersive, and Off- Broadway dance and theatre scenes, von Arx's work seeks to begin conversations. It flips our perspective on its head with playful narration and ambiguous characters who seem to appear and disappear with dynamic physicality to hint at what is seen and not seen. The company has toured throughout the United states and Europe performing at festivals such as Chop Shop, The Dance Gallery Festival, and InciDanse. Its productions have been supported by The Consulate General of Switzerland in New York, Triskelion Arts, Dance Initiative, The New York Ace Hotel, and Gland Culture.
