Shells of Wisdom is a short film inspired by the theatrical production Ajijaak on Turtle Island, that brings the spectacle and lessons from stage to screen.
The balance of the world has been upset. Join Nokomis Moon as she calls upon Ajijaak the crane to fly across the earth and spread Shells of Wisdom to restore balance and protect the river of life.
Directed by Ginew Benton (Ojibwe), produced by Heather Henson, with puppets by the Jim Henson Creature Shop, and featuring music by Dawn Avery (Mohawk).
Ginew Benton is an award-winning Native American filmmaker and cultural educator local to the Hamptons, NY. Growing up on the Shinnecock Nation Territory, Ginew Benton graduated from Southampton High School, and continued his education graduating from Stony Brook University with Honors in Theatre and High Honors in Media Arts.
Shells of Wisdom runs approximately 30 min. and can be paired with a range of educational workshops and talkbacks. Suitable for ingergenertional audiences, ages elementary to elder and appropriate for formal and informal venues, both online and in person.
