QTI Coalition of Colour: "Gender and Media Storyboarding"
By QTI Coalition of Colour
The "Gender and Media Storyboarding '' talk is an introduction to the ways in which academic theories can be put into everyday practises via film text. It addresses how gender, race, and queer theories intertwine with our lived experiences, daily observation, imagination, and creative experiment, and highlights the personal is always political.
Jamie Chi (she/they) is an independent filmmaker and photographer, using her work to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. In 2019, her film Justice for Maya has been circulated in different film festivals around the world. She is the director of a documentary & photography project called Safe Distance.  Jamie is also the co-founder, programme development lead of Queer China UK and curator of the Community-focused Queer Chinese Art Festival 2021.
Scarlett Ng (she/her) is a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology at the University of Oxford. She came from Hong Kong in 2019 for her master's degree in Gender Studies at LSE. Her research examines Chinese queer women's migration to the UK. For most of her time, apart from working on her research, she indulges herself in nature and the cinematic world.
