As a great kick off, this year we are excited to be offering our campers the opportunity to learn and present the iconic Broadway musical, "Godspell" We will kick off camp on Sunday afternoon, August 6 at 2:00 p.m. with some theatre games, get to know each other a little and then jump right into an audition workshop! We will teach all the kids the song from the show, Day By Day. They may sing that for their audition or bring a song that they've worked on outside of camp to sing for us! During a dinner break, we will decide casting while the kids enjoy pizza (provided) and then start learning our music! The evening ends at 7:00 p.m.
Monday-Thursday, Camp will be from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. We will learn the music for the show, but along with that, we will also learn about how our voices work and some basic breathing and singing techniques. We will learn choreography (dancing) that everyone will be able to do well and we will learn the scenes for the show. Through this choreography and acting, we will teach basic stage directions, basic movement and basic character study. The songs and scenes for Godspell are SUPER fun! But the bigger message- a message of hope, of building a community based on kindness, forgiveness, faith and love- is a wonderful message for any child or youth in today's society.
Friday, we will meet from 9:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. (dinner provided.) This will be our "Put it together" day. We will have a stumble through in the morning, a run through in the afternoon, break for dinner (provided) and then a tech rehearsal in the evening.
Our two performances are Saturday, August 12 at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 13 at 2:00 p.m. These performances are free to the public (we will accept a love offering to offset costs of the camp.)
We ask that each child bring a daily lunch. We will provide a daily afternoon snack. Each child will receive a show tee shirt.
This is going to be a GREAT week! Please register now so we can make plans for your child to join us!
