The bass players step up front as Mark Riddell Presents Corporeal Pilot and Allen Hill rocks All Over the Map and celebrates the release of Downtown Saturday Night, his new single on Pravda Records!
Mark is a bassist and side-man for some wonderfully-talented songwriters in Texas and beyond. He plays alongside a lot of artists including Mike Stinson, The Mighty Orq, Charlie and The Regrets, The Allen Oldies Band, Grand Old Grizzly, Leon III, Sam Morrow, Brian Whelan and many other great artists.
After learning from and absorbing some of the talents of those contemporaries, Mark has written and produced his own solo CD!
"Many of the songs for this project were written during the pandemic period. With no gigs or other outlets to make music, I needed to find solace in an old friend...writing. The writing process was cathartic, and I feel like I’ve got a batch of tunes that have a chance of finding sympathetic ears."
When Allen Hill, Houston’s Minister of Fun, enters a room, he brings the party with him — particularly with his world-renowned Allen Oldies Band, which has been covering tunes from the ’60s hit parade since 1996.
Now the unstoppable performer, whose ridiculously fun shows can run upward of five hours, is writing and performing his own songs, releasing his dream rock ’n’ roll record, “All Over the Map,” in 2019, “Beautiful Sounds” and “I Miss You” in 2020, and “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!” in 2021 on Pravda Records.
Hill has worked with many of the artists he admires as a back-up band. “I’ve learned so much about songwriting as part of The Allen Oldies Band and working with greats, like Chuck Berry, Archie Bell, Andre Williams, Wanda Jackson, Barbara Lynn and Roy Head, that I was finally ready to make the leap as an original artist” says Hill. Bell makes a guest appearance on the track, “Soul Travels.” “When he was in the studio, I couldn’t believe it.”
